MIDNIGHT SNACK

Never going to stop taking pictures with balloons at Lucky’s in the middle of the night, or being a kid.

PARTYING BACKWARDS

I know in my first post I said that you can expect everything you see here to have been edited scrupulously and looked at a million times over, but I made a slight misstep in doing these photo sets out of order! Not that I feel like this changes things drastically, but for someone who has OCD like me, little details like this are a big deal. Oh well, I’m living the DGAF LIFESTYLE on this one.

Here’s an after-dance show dinner and a friend’s hotel suite birthday party. I’ve been told I make good mixed drinks, and even better ones when I’m drunk. Anyone care to try?

SHE PUT IT BEST, SHE SAID, “IT’S LIKE WE’RE A STEP ABOVE”

A few weeks ago I went to Costco with ten disposable cameras. A few days and $70 later I left with a stack of ten crisp envelopes and a CD. The first set of posts I’ll be doing are photo sets from March to now: multiple occasions out clubbing in San Francisco, my Spring Break Goth Party, and pictures from (backstage at) Coachella. I thought I’d get y’all acquainted with who I am, at least visually, and show you that I am real person with real friends—and not some fame-obsessed monster—before I actually start throwing shit out there about other people and things that ~inspire~ me. Here goes.

P.S. A note of gratitude goes out to all my friends who publicized THE ALL NIGHTER, even in the smallest shape or form. You know who you are, and it means the world

I’M ALIVE

THE ALL NIGHTER is a long time coming, an idea for a blog I promised myself I’d start for at least two years now, before any blogger ever saw the front row of a fashion show, before The Sartorialist or Facehunter scored book deals to have their photos published and sold at Barnes and Nobles across the country, and before thirteen year-old Tavi Gevinson—who some hail to be the next Anna Wintour—probably even knew how to use a computer. But this doesn’t mean I claim any rights to the idea of broadcasting your life or work to the rest of the world over the Internet—vanity has been around forever—all I mean to say is that this blog is an idea that has been slumbering in my head for awhile; and though I may be late to the scene, I am happy to be here, and to have finally mustered up the courage to unleash the ideas in my head that for so long have been begging to be let out. This is the result.

The name, “THE ALL NIGHTER,” for the reason that I think most of us go through our daily routine just because we have to; and it is only at night, after hours, that we have complete freedom to do as we choose: be who we want, unabashed, and free of the responsibilities (work, school, and otherwise) that during the day keep us quieted. But too I am hopeful that one day I can lead a life getting by doing the things that really do keep me up: spending countless hours updating myself with the thousands of blogs I follow (if not finding new ones), online window shopping (if that’s even a real word), trying on all my clothes and putting together outfits, and scrounging around the Internet for new music. I wake up most of the time with piles of clothes on my bed, homework still to do; so to remedy this, one of my intentions for this blog is to focus all these energies into one place.

With this blog I realize I have several things working against me, however. For one that I’m not a pretty waif-of-a-girl whose closet is brimming with the latest it-item(s), who has a boyfriend who happens to be a photographer who can follow me around all day with his camera—like some of my favorite, and more popular, bloggers out there (i.e. Rumi). And though I’ve accepted that this isn’t me, I will do everything I can to make it work.

I am a Virgo through and through, so you can expect everything you see to have been edited scrupulously and looked at a million times over. Anyway, I have a feeling my tripod is going to be my new best friend, and already have plans to take a PhotoShop class during the summer. I guess the only question left to ask is: Can anyone teach me CSS? Help an HTML-challenged blogger out?

So World/Internet/Blogosphere, here it is, THE ALL NIGHTER, birthed, and already taking its first steps, but of course still very much a work in progress. I myself, probably just as much as you are, am curious to see what form it takes on. I know that there is both possibility and danger in the unknown, both for which excite me.

Here’s to the all things that keep you up at night, and to a blog that will grow and stay with me through the changes.

XX,
Jazper
